Close to 5 Percent of U.S. adults over 50 have fake knees

The new figures represent more than 4 million people, showing how common these replacement joints have become in an aging population.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced on Tuesday that both adult and child overall obesity rates have not significantly increased since 2003. While obesity rates climbed sharply in the U.S. in the 1980s and 1990s, their increase has slowed or leveled off in many population groups since then, according to data from the CDC published today in two articles (see adult data(external link) and children data(external link)) in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
